Wow! I thought I'd take a quick peek at 'Eyes of the Jackal' before bed. The next thing I knew it was 4 am and I'd finished the book. The characters grabbed my hand and pulled me along until I'd learned their story. 'Eyes of the Jackal' is a fantasy adventure and a three hanky romance novel combined. The story is truly a fairy tale in the finest sense. The characters are very well thought out and all the pieces fit together naturally. Nothing comes off as forced or contrived.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to Joni Latham's next offering.

The key to the Eyes of the Jackal is that the Majerian species living undetected among humans appears authentic. This leaves readers believing that another race with "magical" powers exists. Arianna and Trey are warm, courageous lead characters, though the flaws are all on the male side.
Fantasy romance readers will find Joni Latham's efficacious tale quite enchanting.

The tale opens with a petite and lovely young woman walking through an undesirable section of town to be accosted by a derelict who has unpleasant plans for her. It seems that the young lady, Arianna, is not the fragile beauty she seems, and by employing magic, extricates herself from trouble. Arianna actually is a designated guardian of the Majerian, a race of people who interrelate with humans without their awareness. She also is the first female guardian elected by her people and, quite unlike most of her race, has lived almost her entire life among human beings.
The interrelationship of the various characters is involved and most interestingly, one who seems merely incidental in the plot provides a surprising and interesting twist.
Eyes of the Jackal is pure fantasy with a hero, heroine, villain, magic, and demons, and contains a description of true love and interludes of romantic activity that I believe exist somewhere in every woman’s inner mind of minds and will satisfy these dreams. This is a charming bit of fantasy that should be appreciated by all who enjoy the genre.
