Reviews for
DOUBLE TROUBLE

Author:
Betty Sullivan La Pierre

Writer LaPierre has produced an appealing treatise filled with good writing, entertaining characters and creditable situation. She skillfully hooks the reader with her opening line and holds interest right on through to the end of the narrative. Evocative of the drama found in Christine Spindler's Faces of Fear along with the rich characterizations present in Paula Boyd's Hot Enough to Kill, LaPierre's Double Trouble is a gripping read. Betty throws a red herring or two into the mix just to keep the reader on their toes.

Okay, its two-thirty in the morning and you managed to do something that no one but J.D. Robb, or Linda Howard has EVER been able to do. I made the mistake of beginning Double Trouble tonight, when I was supposed to work on my own manuscript. I couldn't write. I was hooked. From page one, to the last, I read it like a starving man eats at a smorgasbord.

Now, usually, if the novel doesn't involve some hot steamy sex along with the suspense, I won't touch it. And I already figured from your earlier novel, that it wouldn't have. Didn't help. I was still hooked. I didn't even miss the hot steamy sex as I read each page, unwilling to lay it down for a second until the climatic end. And talk about an ending. I would have been chewing my fingernails if there were any left to chew after reading The Enemy Stalks. Double Trouble is another winner.

I can't wait for the next Hawkman book.

Hawkman's second adventure is a real winner!

Welcome back, Hawkman! In “DOUBLE TROUBLE,” the second book of her Hawkman series, Betty Sullivan LaPierre has written a taut, complex mystery that is even better than its predecessor.

In DOUBLE TROUBLE, the action is split between Los Angeles and beautiful Copco Lake five years after the explosive events of THE ENEMY STALKS. Once again, LaPierre has filled her book with colorful and interesting characters. Even those who play a minor part are fresh and real. No stereotypes here! The relationship between Hawkman and Jennifer has grown and strengthened over the five years between the two cases. Their love and devotion to each other and to Sam is obvious to the reader. I loved seeing the changes in both characters. Hawkman is content and happy in his new life, and Jennifer is confident in her career and her life with her husband.

I really like this book and this series! Betty LaPierre has written two wonderful stories full of winning characters and interesting, complex plots. I'm looking forward to Hawkman's next adventure.
