From Wolfsmage...
“It sounds reasonable enough, but I think it’s best if Anise goes with you. Just in case there are any…complications,” Nana Bruer said at breakfast the next morning.
“I’m a warlock-witch-werewolf. It can’t get much more complicated than that.” Nana Bruer smiled at me and patted my hand. It looked like Anise Curry was going to be chaperoning my little trip into Were-land. Anise combed her fingers through her sleep-tousled hair, the color of blood and shot me an annoyed look. She had a thing against warlocks. “What about Cyd?”
Chalcedony “Cyd” Bergamot was Anise’s fourteen year-old cousin and an entertaining pain in the butt. Cyd had always been kind to me, though. Maybe I could use her as a buffer between her Anise and me.
“Chalcedony is magic-grounded for sneaking out to Equinox with some friends,” Anise said. I blanched. Equinox was a dance club for warlocks, not the kind of place an innocent young witch should hang.
“For how long?” I asked, anxious to bail Cyd out of the trouble she seemed drawn to.
“Until midnight tonight,” she answered.
