Treatment
Writhing on a flat hard mattress,
strapped to the frame,
tubes in arms
and other appendages,
shaking and crying,
unable to escape the spiders
and rats that chew at his fingers,
screaming in raw terror....
Watching from the monitor screen,
cringing in sympathy, and wondering
what creatures torment this one
in the throws of exit from
mind-numbing addictions' withdrawal.
What would be left of his sanity?
what would be left of her self-control.
