From
Prelude to the War...
"It
has begun, my
sisters," she
thought, her thoughts
traveling silently
upward through miles of
stone and ice. Past
desolate tundra and over
sprawling mountain
ranges, across vast
oceans and uninhabitable
deserts the thoughts
flew. And even half a
world away, those words
struck their targets
with the same force as
an earthquake.
"Surely
it is not time
yet," a sister
pleaded.
"Surely
it is," the other
replied. "We have
waited long, though you
may have forgotten. The
Dreaming is at an end.
We will be reunited
soon."
"But
can we not wait just a
bit longer? There is
still much to be gleaned
from this
lifetime."
"One
is as good as the other,
my sister. I grow weary.
It is time for the
Undoing, and I shall
make the end a truly
spectacular event. Our
sister calls. We must
answer."
