From Outer Mongolia...
My eyes opened and for several seconds I couldn’t think where I was… as my sleepiness lifted I began to remember. I sighed and felt content. It was wonderful laying there, knowing I’d spent the night in a tent on the Steppes of Outer Mongolia. The Steppes in the morning are magnificent. It was so serene; the air was clear and fresh. It was great medicine for my soul! I truly felt my spirit had arrived home.
After breakfast, the tents were dismantled and the bus loaded with our gear. I silently sat on the grasslands absorbing the serenity and energy the air offered. All too soon it was time to leave. We piled into the bus and began the final leg of our road journey. Several hours, and many arduous kilometres, later we neared our destination -- it was appropriate Ro and I sat glued together. Our silence was broken when Sally quietly remarked: “We made it to Ulan Bator, and we didn’t have to bust!!” We arrived in Ulan Bator at 12.45 p.m.
Pat, Fred, Sally, Ro and I were wildly excited we’d finally achieved our goal… the dream had manifested. I was in awe that I was really here. It was unbelievable that we’d actually done it. Although absolutely exhausted, I had an incredible feeling of being awake and alive, and a strong sense of wholeness.
