Mankind has fouled his own nest. Now, most of Earth’s population ignores the fact that the planet and its people are locked into a deadly embrace that is spiraling slowly downward into barbarism and ecological bankruptcy. In a world that no longer has leaders, where success is measured by how much one can take and society lives by the creed of “Every man for himself”, one group struggles to give humanity a second chance. To succeed, they must work in a realm of secrecy where the risks are great and the results uncertain. Most will dedicate their lives to the project, aware that if their efforts succeed, they will never know. A few will forfeit their lives to keep the hope real. And the small core group will find that in order to live, they must first die. They are the Elders.
