Rachel tried to remember everything Opal had told her. “It’s like this. Opal said she heard Charlene tell Carlton that she heard a nurse tell a doctor that the President told the hospital that they are going to do something to our insurance. I need to get the details from Opal again, but it sounds like we might lose our insurance and maybe even our raises. Dag, they finally tell us we might get a raise this year, and the president has to screw it up. I’m glad I was in the hospital on Election Day, and didn’t vote for him.”
Daisy’s eyes opened wide. She opened her mouth, but Rachel led her out of the room before she said anything. AS they passed my office, I heard Daisy cackle and yell that she didn’t get to make her oatmeal.
Rachel peeked around the partition that separated her desk from Alice’s. “Pssst, Alice, you won’t believe what I just heard.”
