The Day I Woke Up as an Ostrich...
“I’m
sorry I can’t bring my monkey
today.” Large, hot tears began to
flow down his cheeks.
“Why
not? Is he sick or something,” Jared
asked.
Jacob
shook his head. "No, he's not
sick. He's not even real! I made him
up! I'm sorry for lying and I wouldn't
blame everyone of you if you just hate
me!" He ran to his desk and laid
his head down on his desk wishing he
could just disappear.
Suddenly,
he felt a small, warm hand cover his
own. "I don't hate you,
Jake," a kind female voice said
softly. "Matter of fact, I've
always thought of you as pretty
cool!"
Jacob
raised his head to look at his friend.
He couldn't believe what he was
hearing! "But I'm a liar, Taga!"
"Well,
yeah, you used to be, but now you're
being honest. It took a lot of guts to
tell everybody that you made up Funny
Face. Most kids would have just said
that he died or something."
"I
just wanted people to like me,"
Jake admitted softly.
