Dave shook his head. The pain convinced him that he was awake, but he couldn’t believe what he heard. Danette pregnant – that would sure piss the old man off. At least that would take the heat off of him if word got back about what he did to Callie.
First, a drunken idiot ran over him and shattered his knee, ruining his future in tennis. Then he screwed up and broke Callie’s heart. Now Danette is pregnant and Kevin doesn’t want the baby. Poor Callie. Poor Danette. Poor Dave. He wanted to go back to sleep and pretend none of this was true. He guzzled a warm beer left on the coffee table from before his nap, and went back to sleep.
