From
City Songs Vol. 1...
As
diverse as its history,
Boston entertainment
spans the gamut of
cultural offerings. The
Drama District is host
to remarkable Broadway
shows, drama, comedy,
and ballet. The famous
Boston Symphony
Orchestra and Boston
Pops perform in Symphony
Hall or in the Hatch
Shell on the Charles
River.
Homegrown
talent took on the
city's name in 1976 when
a rock and roll band
introduced themselves as
“Boston” on their
album by the same name.
In the song, “Rock and
Roll Band,” the group
refers to themselves as
a “band out of Boston
… playin' all the
bars, sleepin' in our
cars” and practicing
“out on the street.”
